Building off the previous module’s knowledge of trauma, the student will gain exposure and understanding around specific traumatic injury patterns. With this module the student will further examine the structure and functions of the Integumentary, Muscular and Skeletal systems. The student will learn how to assess and treat patients experiencing trauma in each of these systems as well as learn the focused management of patients experiencing head, spinal and thoracic trauma as well as patients suffering from Burns. Finally, the student will obtain a brief exposure to the usage of X-ray imaging for diagnosis as well as discuss options for the management of pain in trauma patients.
Fort des connaissances sur les traumatismes acquises dans le module précédent, l’étudiant approfondit sa compréhension des différents types de lésions traumatiques. Il examine plus à fond la structure et les fonctions des systèmes tégumentaire, musculaire et squelettique. Il apprend également à évaluer et à traiter les patients victimes d’un traumatisme touchant chacun de ces systèmes, ainsi qu’à prendre en charge les traumatismes à la tête, à la colonne vertébrale ou au thorax, de même que les brûlures. Enfin, il acquiert des notions de base sur l’utilisation des radiographies à des fins diagnostiques, en plus d’apprendre les options de soulagement de la douleur chez les patients victimes d’un traumatisme.
