Ephedrine

Classification:

• Decongestant, sympathomimetic

Mechanism of Action:

• Stimulates alpha and beta receptors which cause peripheral effects similar to epinephrine; increasing cardiac output and relaxation of bronchiole muscles
• CNS stimulant
• More sustained action but less potent then epinephrine
  

Indications:

• Hypotension associated with anesthesia
